Self Love
When you look in the mirror, what do you see?
Do you see Rejection or Acceptance?
Do you see Judgement or Self-Approval?
Do you see Self Sabotage or Self Love?
Do you see Criticism or Approval?
Do you see Hate or Love?
Do you see Sadness or Joy?
Do you see Anger or Peace?
Do you see Worthlessness or Self Worth?
Do you see Powerlessness or Empowerment?
Do you see Bitterness or Gratitude?
Do you see Lack or Abundance?
Do you see Weakness or Strength?
What do you see when you look at your reflection, when you look at your inner self?
We live in a world where there are so many external pressures to look younger, to be a certain size, dress in a certain way, have the latest designer handbag or shoes, to feel we fit in with society. Why do we feel these pressures to look like others?
We are all different so why do we feel the need to “conform” to feel accepted?
Why are we so hard on ourselves when we don’t fit into the norm? What is the norm? Who decides what normal really is anyway?
It is a fact that no two snowflakes are the same, every single one is unique and beautiful in it’s own special way. Similarly no two human beings are the same either, each with its own DNA, own individual characteristics and gifts, unique in their own special way, so why do we have such difficulty accepting this fact and accepting ourselves just the way we are?
“A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blossoms and blooms.”
Nature celebrates it’s individuality, so why can’t we?
Celebrate your uniqueness; celebrate your individuality for there is no one like you on this entire planet. Don’t compare yourself to others because there is just no comparison.
We are here to love one another, not compete against one another, to help one another not compare and judge one another, to see the beauty in each other, not the flaws. We are here as one to unite, to live, experience and love. We are born to be happy and self-accepting but we’ve lost our way. We need continual gentle guidance and love to bring us back to our true path.
Dr Masaru Emoto beautifully illustrated the concept of individual expression in his book, The Hidden Messages in Water.
In his eye-opening account he showed how water is deeply connected to our individual and collective consciousness. Drawing from his own research, Dr Emoto described the ability of water to absorb, hold and even retransmit human feelings and emotions. Using high-speed photography, he found that crystals formed in frozen water revealed changes when specific, concentrated thoughts were directed toward it. Music, visual images, words written on paper and photographs also had an impact on the crystal structure. Dr Emoto’s studies showed us that since water has the ability to receive a wide range of frequencies, it can also reflect the universe in this manner. He found that water from clear springs and water exposed to loving words showed brilliant, complex, and colourful snowflake patterns, while polluted water and water exposed to negative thoughts formed incomplete, patterns with dull colours. Dr Emoto believed that since people are 70 per cent water, and the Earth is 70 per cent water, we can heal our planet and ourselves by consciously expressing love and goodwill.
The results of his study were truly astounding. Dr Emoto travelled the world sharing his message and discovery. The way we speak to ourselves affects every cell in our body. Our cells listen intently to every word we say. Are you speaking to them with love? This is a reminder to be conscious of the choice of our words, and to use them wisely as words not only have the power to create, but also the power to destroy as can be seen in the images below.
Remember the genie in the lamp? “ Your wish is my command! ”
All humans need love, affection and attention.
Treat your soul with love and compassion not anger, judgement or blame. One would never speak to another person in this way so why do we subject ourselves to such criticism and self-sabotage.
As Miguel Ruiz said in The Four Agreements “Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.”
It’s time to take your power back. It’s time for self-acceptance. Look at yourself with loving eyes, respect yourself and others will too. Have the strength to ask for help when things get too much, to take time out when your body needs a rest, to have fun and laugh when things get a bit too serious and stagnant in your life.
Our journey back to the light is in learning to love ourselves, being grateful for the life we have been given and our lessons for soul growth, and for the connections we make that guide us on our path.
We are all worthy of self-love, so focus on your strengths and they will multiply. Choose to focus on your weaknesses and they too will multiply. The choice is yours. Choose wisely as energy flows where our intention goes.
Always remember you are beautiful and you are an important part of the whole universe.
“ You are not a drop in the ocean.
You are the entire ocean, in a drop”. Rumi
Recognise your inner beauty and let your light shine through. Give to yourself just like you give to others. Self-love and self-acceptance are the keys to your happiness. Unlock the door and gaze with wonderment at the beauty within.
I love you xxx
